A Voice for Dublin West –
Stronger Communities, Public Services and Infrastructure

Dear Constituent,

The past two months have been incredibly busy both in Leinster House and across Dublin 15. From standing up for local communities on policing, housing and public services, to supporting residents' groups, volunteers and sporting organisations, it has been another productive period representing the people of Dublin West.

One of the greatest privileges of serving as your TD is seeing the remarkable community spirit that exists across our constituency. Every week I meet volunteers, coaches, residents and community leaders who give their time to make Dublin 15 a better place to live. Their commitment continues to inspire me and reinforces why I remain determined to fight for the services and investment our communities deserve.

In this newsletter, I’ll update you on:

✅ Campaigning for safer parks and stronger communities.

✅ Standing up for Dublin 15 on policing and anti-social behaviour.

✅ Fighting for better housing, healthcare and public services.

✅ Supporting local volunteers, sports clubs and community organisations.

✅ Infrastructure, planning and environmental issues.

✅ My work in the Dáil on national issues.

🚔 Safer Parks, Stronger Communities

Community safety remained one of my biggest priorities throughout May and June.

Following the shocking vandalism and criminal damage in Hartstown Park, I worked alongside residents, local sports clubs, community organisations and volunteers to organise a community gathering to demonstrate that our public spaces belong to everyone.

The response from the community was phenomenal. Families, young people and community groups came together with one clear message: we will not allow a small minority engaged in anti-social behaviour to take over our parks.

Residents highlighted practical improvements that I will continue pursuing, including:

• Increased Garda patrols.
• More park rangers.
• Improved lighting.
• CCTV.
• Greater youth outreach services.
• A review of access points into the park.

I was particularly pleased that following this campaign, Fingal County Council announced new Park Fit classes for Hartstown Park after requests from local representatives and residents. Bringing more positive community activity into our parks is an important part of making them safer for everyone.

This campaign will continue because our parks belong to the entire community.

👮 Standing Up for Dublin 15

I continued to raise the need for stronger policing resources throughout the last two months.

I challenged the Government over plans to redeploy Gardaí from Dublin 15 despite our area only recently receiving additional Garda resources after years of shortages.

I also raised the growing problem of scramblers, illegal e-bikes and anti-social behaviour directly with the Taoiseach. I welcomed his commitment to introduce legislation allowing Gardaí greater powers to pursue dangerous scrambler users.

Since then, I have continued pressing the Minister for Justice to establish dedicated anti-scrambler Garda units similar to those already operating elsewhere in Britain. I have also called for Gardaí to receive e-bikes and for drone technology already purchased by An Garda Síochána to finally become operational.

Criminals continue to adapt. Our policing resources must do the same.

🏠 Fighting for Better Public Services

Throughout May and June I continued highlighting the everyday issues affecting families across Dublin West.

These included:

• Council rent increases being introduced before tenants received notification.
• The continuing cost-of-living crisis and rising household energy bills.
• Record levels of energy arrears affecting families.
• The unacceptable delays children face accessing dental treatment.
• Housing and homelessness concerns.
• Ongoing advocacy for residents dealing with disability, education and healthcare services.

In the Dáil, I also supported legislation to remove the unnecessary three-day waiting period for abortion services, ensuring women can access healthcare in a more compassionate and timely manner.

Constituency casework remains one of the most important aspects of my role, and my office continues working every day to help local residents resolve issues with public bodies and Government departments.

🚧 Infrastructure and Planning

Several important infrastructure projects affecting Dublin 15 progressed over the last two months.

I received updates from Uisce Éireann regarding the Greater Dublin Drainage Project, which will play an important role in supporting future development across the Greater Dublin Area.

I also continued campaigning for stronger regulation of commercial drone deliveries operating in residential communities.

While innovation has an important place in our future economy, commercial activity must not come at the expense of residents' quality of life. I welcomed the decision by Manna to cease its local operations following ongoing planning issues and continued concerns raised by communities regarding excessive noise.

I will continue pushing for proper national legislation regulating commercial drone operations.

🤝 Supporting Our Community

One of the most rewarding parts of being your TD is spending time with the incredible organisations that make Dublin 15 such a vibrant community.

During May and June, it was a pleasure to attend:

• Football presentations and awards with Mulhuddart FC, Corduff FC, Hartstown Huntstown FC, Tyrrelstown United FC and many other local clubs.
• Verona FC Finals Day, where over 900 children participated in the mini leagues.
• Community festivals and family events.
• Environmental initiatives and local clean-up campaigns.
• Residents' association activities.
• The Bosnia and Herzegovina Srebrenica Remembrance Day.
• Historical commemorations, including the annual James Hazlett Commemoration.
• The annual Mountview Boys & Girls FC Mini Leagues, which I was delighted to sponsor.

I also met with Allanah from SpunOut to discuss the organisation's pre-Budget proposals and the supports needed for young people across Ireland.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gives countless hours coaching young people, organising events and strengthening community life. Dublin 15 simply would not be the community it is without your dedication.

🌿 Protecting Our Environment

Environmental issues continued to feature throughout May and June.

From supporting biodiversity initiatives and local clean-up projects to encouraging residents' environmental groups, I remain committed to protecting our green spaces while building stronger communities.

Sometimes it's the small things that remind us of the importance of protecting nature. I was delighted to see blue tits successfully nesting in one of the bird boxes at home, a lovely reminder that even simple actions can help local wildlife thrive.

🏛️ My Work in the Dáil

Alongside constituency work, I continued representing Dublin West in Leinster House on a broad range of national issues.

During May and June, I worked on:

• Cost of living and energy prices.
• Housing.
• Healthcare.
• Children's dental services.
• Garda resources.
• Illegal scramblers.
• Planning legislation.
• Women's healthcare.
• Irish unity.
• Opposition to the EU Migration Pact.
• Ireland's response to international humanitarian issues, including Palestine.
• Opposition to the proposed new EU charge on small imported parcels.

I also continued supporting preparations for a future United Ireland, taking part in the annual Irish Unity Cycle to the Wolfe Tone Commemoration in Sallins alongside many others committed to planning positively for Ireland's future.

As always, my priority remains ensuring that the voices of people in Dublin West are heard loudly in Leinster House.

🏃 Community Spirit

Outside of politics, it was another enjoyable couple of months on the sporting front.

I was delighted to achieve a new personal best of 23 minutes and 13 seconds at the Castleknock 5km and continued running with local running groups across Dublin 15.

The end of June was certainly memorable. After completing the 50km Irish Unity Cycle to Sallins, I made it back to Croke Park just in time to witness Dublin's remarkable comeback victory over Galway to reach another All-Ireland semi-final.

Congratulations to every player, coach, volunteer and club celebrating successful seasons across Dublin West. Sport continues to bring communities together and inspire the next generation.
